There was an old wine barrel sitting on the loading dock for the longest time. My husband's office is next door to the wine shop, and every time I went to his office, I saw that poor barrel, crying for a paint job. I finally asked the owners (David Arista at the time) if I might paint the barrel for fun and then return it to him. He agreed, but got me a better barrel; one that he thought would withstand transport. I happily painted the largest abstract painting I've ever done, and was very pleased with the result. It is displayed at the wine shop and seems to be quite a conversation starter. I am glad I took a chance and was able to share my art with the world. Thank you Arista Wine Cellars!

Balancing Art/Act

These single bottle wine racks are each an abstract painting in itself. Having three grandparents from an artistic background, painting was something I always appreciated, but didn’t ever try until college. I attended California Polytechnic State University where I received a degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Art. Graduation came much before my appetite for painting had been adequately fed.

I continue to paint on my own, self-teaching and learning along the way. I take classes at community colleges and at local galleries. I once painted for a candid audience, and now paint to nourish my soul. Emotions are revealed, energy let loose and spilled on the canvas.

I have been the Holy Rosary Auction Class Art Project Chair for many years; helping students Pre-K through 8th grade create collaborative works of art that have sold for as much as $3500 each.

I live in Edmonds, Washington with my husband and our 9 children.
